How to Refresh Your Space in 10 Minutes

Sometimes, a whole new room isn’t in the budget for a while and that’s ok! We get it and we’re here to help you see your space in a new way in 10 minutes without buying a thing… well maybe a few things but we’ll get to that later.

The kitchen is one of the most busy areas of your home.  treat it to a little declutter and you'll love the difference it makes.  Pendant Lights: Visual Comfort  Island: Honed Marble  Grass Shades: The Blind and Shutter Gallery

1.     Declutter

Paperwork, knickknacks, and odds-and-ends tend to take over surfaces making it a challenge to feel any sense of calm.

Clear your space: Take a box and pile all of the clutter from surfaces like consoles, countertops and the dining room table and set it aside (for now)… The next time you are out and about, grab a couple of document holders, and plastic bins and organize in a way that makes sense for your family.

Dust and clean those surfaces.  Now, you could stop there and let them be clean and simple.  I’m a less is more kind of girl so I lean toward less accessories than more.

These newly decluttered spaces give you fun places to decorate with accessories, important artwork made by kids, coffee table books, etc.  Instantly, you’ll feel more collected and get the itch to do more.

2.     The Switcher-oo

Change artwork around on the walls so that you see something new in the space.  It’s fun to borrow a piece from one area and use it in another.  Often this has a bigger effect on other spaces and your family will love the new look and feel too.

3.     A little Heavy Lifting

Sometimes just moving your furniture around provides a fresh perspective on how you use that space and your pieces of furniture.  Who knows, the extra effort may even help the room function better than it did before.

I think it's important that each space have at least two  different furniture layouts.  This gives you flexibility for guests, events and a spring refresh.  Coffee Table: Ashley Rohe Home

Now that we’re almost into spring, flowers from the garden are an easy and elegant addition but if you live in the city or are allergic to flowers, candles are a great way to add a fresh smell to a space and add a little accessory to your console or coffee table as well.

We’d love to hear from you!  What are some things that you do to refresh your space in 10 minutes?
